12 Crazy Good Chick Lit Picks

I love reading and I read a lot. I love historical fiction, romance, drama, and adventure. Mysteries and thrillers tend to keep me awake at night so I choose them carefully. And oh, how I love a good ghost story! But again, I have to choose the book and the timing carefully so that I can sleep!

I’ve listed 12 crazy good chick-lit picks here. Even if the stories themselves don’t appeal to you right off the bat, take a look at other books written by these authors because they are all AMAZING writers! This is just a small sample of some of my favorites from them. Happy reading and please feel free to comment with some of your favorites.

‘Reading gives us somewhere to go when we have to stay where we are.’ ~ Mason Cooley

A Woman of Substance

A Woman of Substance is one of my favorite books of all time! Historical Fiction at its best. Emma Harte loses her family and her great love. But she pulls herself up and goes on to build her empire. You will be so inspired by her strength and determination!

Evening Class

I love everything Maeve Binchy ever wrote, God rest her soul. She draws you in until you genuinely care for every single character and never want it to end. This book will remind you how great it feels to embrace new people and experiences.

The Woman Who Stole My Life

Marian Keyes can tell a story! Her characters always end up in the most unique situations. She’s one author that consistently delivers and makes me laugh out loud!

This book was interesting and fun even though the main character falls ill with a serious auto-immune disease. The one she has was so scary that it actually made me thankful that the ones I have are Graves Disease and Thyroid Eye Disease. It’s still no fun, but Stella’s situation spotlights the fact that things can always be worse. Check out all of Marian Keyes’ books!

The Year that Changed Everything

Cathy Kelly draws you in from the very beginning. She writes about life and family so well. Her characters are so relatable that you care about them long after you finish her books. Most of her stories are long and luxurious. Check out all of her books HERE. Then brew a big cup of tea and settle in.

That Month In Tuscany

This is the first book I’ve read from this author and I was swept away! If you’ve ever considered running away from your life, give this one a try.

Outlander

I remember the day I stumbled upon the Outlander Series. It was 1996 and I was wandering around a Waldon Book store. The beginning was slow but once it got good, it got GOOD! I’m glad I read these before they turned them into a Showtime series. After tuning in to the first episode, I realized that I prefer my image of the characters and plot interpretation. If you like, romance, time travel, action, adventure, and history, you will not be disappointed!

A Summer Affair

If you’re looking for an amazing beach read, Elin Hildebrand ROCKS them! Add this one to your vacation or Summertime reading list. She will draw you in quickly with her uncomplicated and captivating writing style. Fun (and sad) fact about Elin Hildebrand; she just published her very last book. It’s called Swan Song. I just treated myself to the hardcover. I LOVE my Kindle but to me, a hardcover book is awesomely luxurious. Now I just need to get over my sadness that it’s her last one and start reading it.

Winter Solstice

Rosamunde Pilcher is another one of my very favorite authors! She’s perfect for those cloudy days in the dead of winter when you want to cuddle up for days and savor every word. Some of her books are not available on Kindle but that’s okay; buy the books! She’s totally worth it!

Years

This book is just a nice, sweet, interesting story that includes romance with a lot of heart. Pretty much the same as every other book that LaVyrle Spencer ever wrote! It’s a beautiful Historical Romance that will stay with you long after you put the book down.

Evergreen

Find yourself a cold, cloudy day and a big comfy chair. Then, make yourself a hot beverage and dive in. This is the first (and my favorite) of the five books in the Werner Family Saga. If you like Downton Abbey and A Woman of Substance, you will LOVE this series!

Here Come The Girls

I love cruises! I love being on them, talking about them, thinking about them, reading about them, you name it! This is a fun and comfy read that you’ll enjoy even if you don’t currently have a cruise vacation booked! Take a look at Milly Johnson’s other books too. She’s great for when you want a light and breezy escape!

Marriage Vacation

This made the list because I love when a book makes me feel lots of things. Part of me judged the main character for being incredibly selfish while another part admired her courage. There’s a connection between this book and the TV Land show, Younger. I’ve never watched it, but it was a great book! UPDATE: As I update this post I realize this book is no longer available on Kindle. It’s also difficult to find. The link on the title heading takes you to the option for hardcover and paperback versions. It appears as though this is the only book that the author, Pauline Brooks, ever wrote. (At least under that name). I still recommend reading it. I enjoyed it! Plus, it was good enough to inspire a series that ran seven seasons!

I earnestly 🙂 hope you enjoy these 12 Crazy Good Chick Lit Picks! If you’d like a few more book options, check out my most recent book list post HERE!
